The Belington On TRAC promotion committee is excited to announce the 2nd Annual Belington BBQ Cookoff which will be held as part of the Belington Fall Fest on Satuday, Sept. 20th.

The committee is looking for individuals and teams to compete in the cookoff for a chance to win the BEST BBQ designation in the area. The 2 categories of competition are a whole chicken and baby back pork ribs.

Contestants can enter into either one or both meat categories. Kickoff of the BBQ cookoff will be at 9 am on the 20th at the Belington Town Square. The cooks will have all day to cook their chicken and ribs to perfection until the official turn in time at 3:30 pm. The BBQ cooks will have to prepare and cook the chicken and ribs on site.

Registration for the event starts at 8 am. A cooks’ meeting will be held at 8:30 to cover the official rules and inspect the contestants’ ingredients and cooking sites. Participants can use grills fueled with propane gas, wood or charcoal. Judging will be based on tenderness, texture, taste, and appearance.

A prize will also be awarded for the best decorated tent which will be selected by the public who can donate a penny per vote.
